U.S. vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance recently shared his vision for ending the war with Russia, proposing a demilitarized zone and Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO. Volodymyr Zelensky commented on his suggestion:
Vance’s message seems to suggest that Ukraine must make sacrifices, which is unacceptable. The idea of ending the war at Ukraine’s expense would lead to a global conflict involving many countries, including Israel, Lebanon, Iran, Taiwan, China, and several African nations. This approach would essentially establish a rule of ‘I came, I conquered, now it’s mine,’ which would determine control over territory based on who showed up with a gun, rather than the rightful owner. Mr. Vance should study the history of World War II to understand the consequences of giving away territory to one person. The Jewish people, who are a powerful pillar of the US, should launch a public awareness campaign to explain why millions died because of such actions.
