Russia is modernizing its T-62M main battle tank for combat operations against Ukraine, with recent social media footage revealing an increase in the number of refurbished tanks being transported to the frontline over the past two to three months, as reported by Defence 24. The footage shows upgraded T-62Ms with enhanced armor and modified configurations, indicating a possible lack of standardization in the refurbishment process. The tanks have undergone various modifications, including the addition of reactive armor blocks, anti-drone cage armor, and communications jammers. The 103rd Tank Repair Plant is likely responsible for the upgrades, which come as Moscow has lost at least 180 T-62 family tanks in the conflict, with 146 being irrecoverable losses, according to Oryx data.
