Report on the Russian OFAB -250SHL
Assault, high-explosive fragmentation aviation bomb of 250 kilograms caliber with a leader.
A tough munition. Its toughness lies in the letter “L” at the end. L-leader. The leader is a long-long (about five meters) telescopic tube, like a fishing rod, which unfolds in the air after the bomb is dropped from the carrier (which can be not only an airplane, but also a helicopter) and flies to meet the ground.
At the other end, the leader rests against the detonator and when the leader touches the ground, it immediately detonates, and therefore the entire bomb at a height of about 5 meters from the ground.
And if for some reason the leader does not come out, the bomb will still explode, only with a delay.
IMO There is a weak point here , if an F16 sends a rocket at the Russian fighter jet carrying highly explosive bombs it would evaporate the whole plane and the pilot.
